Donna Kukama (South Africa)

Donna Kukama is currently completing her Master's degree in MAPS, a post-graduate programme affiliated with the Ècole Cantonale d'Art du Valais (ECAV) in Sierre, Switzerland. She obtained a B.A. (Painting & Printed Image) as well as a B.F.A (Performance & Video) at the Tshwane University of Technology in South Africa. Donna has performed and participated in exhibitions across South Africa, Dakar, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Spain, and Serbia.

"My work evolved from an interest in mundane ritual actions in the everyday, specifically their potential for transformation through displacement. From this point onwards, the gestured language, texted histories, and the creation of urban mythologies have all entered my production processes. My work can therefore be understood as a continuous meandering through a variety of identities, each one taking upon a transparent form that is neither predictable nor fixed."
