JeannETTE Gaussi (GErmany/Afghanistan)

Jeanno Gaussi was born in Kabul, Afghanistan

I left my origin country by the age of six years; I grew up in Delhi and Berlin. By growing up in different culture areas I had to confront myself with my different identities.

Observing a microcosm like an explorer and documenting their uniqueness within a culture is my tool to understand, to get connected and to find a position for myself. At a very young age already, I started to get an idea about cultural diversity – in a good, strange and funny way, but also with the complications, mistakes and misunderstandings that come with it.

Through the experiences I made during my childhood and still do, I can say “belonging and displacement” are the strongest questions that escorts my life and art- work.
